A Summer Work Wear Guide

When temperatures rise above 90 degrees, it can be easy to day dream about living in your summer shorts and kicking back by the pool all day. But for most of us, duty calls and we must press on to the office. The key is looking polished and professional with a nod to ease of summer. We’ve gathered several outfits and tips from our FDF Stylists to help guide you through the work week heat.

A Bright Idea

A bright trouser is just the right amount of daring to spice up your summer work wardrobe! Add a textured white blouse with statement sleeves and a nude backpack for a business casual look that’s on trend.  Pair with a nude open toe sandal and a simple stud earring to keep your look office professionally appropriate.

A Fashion Forward Tunic

Own your look and the conference room this summer with this breathable blouse. This structural striped tunic is great if you want to make a subtle statement.  Pair with a comfortable cropped trouser (these are stretchy), and, again, a classic nude sandal. Cropped pants in the summer show off your shoes and make you look and feel a few degrees cooler!

Light Weight Textures

Who says you can’t layer in the summer! The key to this monochrome look is playing with different textures.  Pair this mesh, sheer quarter sleeve top under a summer silk tank in the same hue. Tuck both into a pinstripe crop trouser for a cute set that’s ultra modern. You’ll really look like you know what you’re doing in this ensemble. Pair the navy outfit with a black pointy toe heel to complete the look. For those wondering about black and navy together, the answer is a resounding YES. Black and navy are a chic and more than acceptable color combination.

A Breezy Blouse

To add some color to your work wear, opt for a breezy blouse in a fun hue, like this green wrap top. Pair it with a pencil skirt as shown or  pair it back with either trouser in this post! This top is versatile, comfy, flattering, and breathable, and… we could go on and on! This outfit looks perfect with your nude heels (always) or the black pumps are another great option.
