What to Wear to a Job Interview

Finance

For this industry, a good rule of thumb is to stick with traditional business attire like high-waisted trousers, tailored blazers, and office-appropriate shift dresses. These pieces will not only communicate how serious you are about the position, but will showcase your professionalism. But just because you’re wearing traditional 9-5 pieces doesn’t mean you have to look boring. Try chic, monochromatic separates for your interview! A light and airy tonal outfit is both professional and stylish. Finish the sleek look off with simple and subtle jewelry to add a pinch of personality.

Marketing

Marketing interviews present a chance to show your creative side and interviewers love to see it. Generally speaking, the marketing industry dress code standard is more creative which allows your personality to shine through your outfit! Use your look to show that you’re not like the rest of ‘em. Consider bold colors or playful accessories. Accessories are a great way to personalize an interview outfit!

Education

For an interview in education, dress up slightly more than you would teaching in a classroom but stay comfortable and practical. A flattering skirt and an oversized cardigan will allow you to feel (and look) your best. We recommend investing in a quality printed skirt or pants to stand out and feel comfortable. Beautiful prints are fun to wear and can be memorable to your interviewer which is especially a good thing when there are many candidates. Investing in a quality piece will help insure the best fit, and be sure to invest in one with a fabric that feels great on your body!
