New Year New You: Investing in Closet Staples

Ah, the new year – the time we make resolutions that may be difficult to keep, but we have good intentions when making them, right? While eating clean and going to the gym might be more difficult resolutions for some of us to keep, we’ve got a resolution for you that is easy…particularly with your Front Door Fashion stylist’s help.

Today, Kate’s sharing her recommendations for six closet staples worth investing in to maximize your style in 2021.

Investing in Closet Staples

1. A Classic Blazer

A classic blazer will never go out of style. This closet workhorse will take you from an easy casual look to that important job interview. Expect to spend between $100 to $200 on a quality blazer that fits perfectly. The cost per wear is worth the investment.

2. A Leather Jacket

A leather jacket, like most of this list, a piece you can buy and own for years. Leather itself is a good investment; the material is durable and it’s one of the few fabrics that actually gets better with time.

3. Denim Jeans

Splurge on long lasting, quality jeans. Premium denim will fit well and have the perfect amount of stretch. When it comes to color, opt for a pair in a light wash, dark wash, and grey wash. These are the classic shades that never go out of style.

4. A Crisp White Button Up

The white button up is another timeless classic that you can dress up or down. It’s great casually styled with denim or perfectly polished with your suiting. A white button up doesn’t have to be boring either! A hidden placket, a great cuff, or an interesting yoke are subtle, yet fun details.

5. A Little Black Dress

The LBD is one of the most versatile items you can add to your closet. Select a dress that you can wear to a cocktail party, date night, or those last minute plans!

6. Tailored Slacks

A tailored pair of slacks is the ultimate foundation for a classic and easy look. Pair your slacks with a blazer or wear as a separate with a tee and sneaker for a casual cool look.
