How To Transition Your Wardrobe Into Fall
With less than a month until Fall equinox we are already thinking about bundling up into layers of gorgeous cashmere that are already arriving at Front Door Fashion! Fall, for us fashion folk, is the most wonderful time of the year! It’s the time for experimenting with layers and breaking out your favorite leather jacket. While we fashionistas are excited to dive into fall we reluctantly recognize that temperatures are still well into the 80s and 90s until October in some parts of the country (especially here in Texas). So, how do you dress for that awkward transitional season when shorts and sundresses no longer cut it but autumn temperatures haven’t quite arrived?
Don’t get ahead of yourself and pack away your summer-weight items just yet because you can still use them mixed in with layers. The key to dressing for transitional weather is to pair the summer pieces you already have with a few freshly classic fall items like a lightweight blouse, an oversized sweater, a statement jacket and a classic button up.
To help you stay ahead of the curve, we’ve selected several early fall outfits along with styling tips so you’ll be ready when temperatures drop. After all, it’s better to be prepared with a few fall items ready in your closet than to be scrambling at the last minute! The time to starting buying key fall items is now!
A Blouse Under Your Favorite LBD
To take your summer little black dress a step in the fall direction layer a statement blouse underneath for a polished street-style look that’s also practical for the changing temperatures. We’ve added an of-the-moment refined puff sleeve blouse under our little black dress. You can also get this look with a white tee or your favorite white turtleneck. When it gets colder pair this look with lace-up booties and tights!
An Oversized Sweater Over Your Summer Skirt
For an easy and comfortable transitional look pair your favorite summer skirt with an oversized cotton sweater in a chestnut brown hue. Front-tuck the sweater into the skirt to define your waist and add bangles as accessories. We love the contrast of this cozy transitional look with flat neutral sandals.
Distressed Denim With A Fall Button-Up
Wear your summer wedges into early fall with distressed denim and a fall button-up! A light-weight button-up is a great option for transitional weather. It’s breathable, chic and won’t weigh you down. If your feeling really into the fall spirit, a black croc embossed bag would add an extra luxe statement to this look!
Statement Jacket Over Summer Floral
A statement jacket over a summer floral that you’ve enjoyed all summer is a great way to break up the print and to keep you warm on those chilly (finally!) fall mornings. Cover up on top and stick with a simple shoe on the bottom like a flat sandal or a sneaker. Transitional weather can be fun with prints! Ask your FDF stylist to create a transitional look similar to these around pieces you already own!
