This weekend Meghan Markle says ‘I do’ to her happily ever after with prince Harry. It’s been a long time coming and we can’t wait to watch the whole event this weekend! We covered her casual style in a previous post around the time of the engagement, but after noticing Meghan’s devotion to the Black Halo brand (something we sell at Front Door Fashion) we decided to focus on her classic and royally chic professional looks. From her start on the TV show Suits to her now many speaking engagements, Meghan continues to wow us with her simple but elegant choices when it comes to her style. For this post, we’ve asked ourselves, “What would Meghan wear to work?” and created a guide for your 9 to 5 from Monday to Friday.
With this outfit, you might actually look forward to your Monday morning meeting! Meghan Markle’s character on Suits, Rachel Zane, is constantly in pencil skirts. For a bit of a modern twist to this classic look we chose a layered ruffle skirt that ties at the waist. This trendy piece works best when paired with a classic, simple white button up. Roll up the sleeves and pair with neutral accessories that are the same shade family with different textures.
You’ve got a presentation and you need a dress that draws attention to you for the right reasons. Black Halo is a tried and true brand that we recommend to all of our business professionals because it fits beautifully and the silhouettes flatter so many different figures. This 3/4 sleeve version of the Jackie O dress is a perfect and appropriate look for your next presentation or important meeting.
The soon-to-be princess appeared at a Women’s Empowerment reception in London alongside Prince Harry in the same Black Halo dress (sleeveless version). The dress, a fitted cowl-neck midi sheath with a belt at the waist, is also a favorite of lots of other celebrities including Kim Kardashian West, Blake Lively, Tyra Banks, and Taraji P. Henson. So, needless to say, you’ll be in good company wearing this dress! Pair with black pointed toe heels and a matching clutch. Add a touch of silver with the earrings and your look is complete!
An all white look screams “I’m chic and I know it!” Liven up your hump day with an all white look similar to Meghan’s character on Suits. The dress we’ve chosen is again, Black Halo. This cut is a sheath dress that hits just above the knee and is paired with neutral accessories. Complete the look with a statement necklace like this one is from Catherine Page.
Markle attended her first semi-formal evening event with Prince Harry in an absolutely stunning Alexander McQueen suit, white silk blouse and black stiletto pumps. The whole outfit was around $3,000! For a less expensive version that is office appropriate, we have opted for a structured jacket from James Jeans and paired it with a black ankle-length trouser, for a look that’s just a fraction of the price at around $600.
Meghan Markle knows how to rock a denim jacket! For a work appropriate and smart casual Friday look take a classic white shell piece and pair it under a denim jacket. Add a bright trouser for a bit of flare for your Friday. Match your shoes to your tote bag and add simple gold earrings.
